Today many organizations continue to use Db2 Server for VSE&VM, and currently IBM has no plans to discontinue support. However, given the feature and capacity limitations in Db2 Server for VSE&VM, many organizations are deciding to transition away. These organizations often struggle with the change, as the number of technical consultants who understand Db2 Server for VSE&VM has diminished and the migration options are not well documented or understood by consultants familiar with Db2 on z/OS or Db2 for LUW.
Can you say z/Linux? How about application redirect? DRDA? Hipersockets? These are just a few of the topics TFG will discuss with you if you decide to work with us to successfully migrate from Db2 Server for VSE&VM data to a newer database. The Fillmore Group has repeatedly demonstrated that you CAN leave your legacy applications in place while migrating your data to a newer, more feature-rich environment, enjoy improved performance, and in many cases save thousands of dollars on third-party support tool costs.
Take a look at our case studies and when you are ready please call us. And if you have started down the migration path and run into problems, call quickly. There are, unfortunately, a number of obstacles that must be addressed. We know where and what they are and how to overcome them to make your migration a success.
