Organizations typically implement IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (IIDR) solutions – either Q Replication or InfoSphere Change Data Capture (ICDC) – to address critical business requirements, yet training options are few and far between for the DBA’s who support these solutions in critical production environments.
The IBM Replication community resource delivers periodic webinars designed to promote better understanding of how IBM Replication solutions can be monitored, modified, and their use expanded. Sessions are typically one hour in length and are delivered by IBM developers and product specialists, or expert end users.

Session #1, August 9, 2012
Speaker: Frank Fillmore
“Beyond High Availability – Using Q Replication for Migration Support” delivered by Frank Fillmore on August 9, 2012 is available for replay. In this session Frank gives one answer to the question, “”What can Q Replication do that goes beyond delivering high availability?” with a session on using Q Replication to support database migrations, and even platform migrations. This session showcases a successful Oracle to DB2 migration as an example. Attendees learn how a world-wide Top 50 financial institution migrated data from Oracle to DB2 with a minimal application outage using InfoSphere Replication Server’s heterogeneous replication (Q Replication) from Oracle to DB2.
