Although the Global Skills Initiative hasn’t delivered on its promise IBM continues to schedule and deliver classes with the Global Training Partners. It’s just more difficult for customers to find classes and register…and then wait for the all-too-frequent “sorry, cancelled” call.
But, as we have been delivering IBM Authorized DB2 and data management tools classes for this long, we’re hanging in. Why not? Our classroom sits waiting for students and our consultants who train always look forward to delivering classes.
Our scheduled classes are in the document attached below. These are the classes we are scheduled to deliver. Please remember we have access to other courses and curriculum, and can deliver many more courses (along with our regularly scheduled classes) in private sessions at your location, and/or via distance learning.
Please call (443-956-0288) or email me (email@example.com) if I can help!

We have seats available in the “Using Queue Replication” class scheduled to run Tuesday through Friday, August 23-26. Students may attend class in our Baltimore classroom or via distance learning. The cost per student is $2680. The outline and registration are on the Arrow ECS training website here.
If you are one of the many terrific IBM customers who attended Frank’s webinar a few weeks ago, I hope you will register and join us. The IBM authorized Q Replication training class has not run publicly for 3 years. It took several weeks to get permission to run this class – one we have delivered successfully many times in the past. IBM wants to retire it because – surprise – it doesn’t run frequently enough. !! Frank will be the instructor for the class and he will include (beyond the course material) an overview of the new Oracle apply.
Please don’t miss the opportunity to take this class. Organizations rely on replication; if you have never attended a formal Q Replication class, I hope you will consider joining us. It’s a great product, but it is complex. I hope I will see you there!

Thanks again to everyone who joined us this morning for Frank’s presentation. The recording and presentation files will be added in our next post.
In this post I am happy (thrilled!) to announce the Q Replication training class discussed on the webinar – the four-day, instructor-led session CE243G, “Using Queue Replication” has been posted on both the IBM and Arrow ECS websites and is therefore ready to accept registrations. Please join us if you are interested, either in our Baltimore classroom, or via distance learning. The class will run for four days, Tuesday – Friday, August 23-26. Register here.
Special thanks to Megan Byrne, who helped get the class reinstated – it hasn’t run publicly for over three years – and is back on the schedule.
As a special incentive to anyone interested in attending the class in our Baltimore classroom, if you are interested in joining us for the Baltimore Orioles vs. the Washington Nationals game Tuesday night (after the first day of class), please let me know. At The Fillmore Group we are all great O’s fans and they are, after all, in first place!
Finally, as one of today’s topics was the Oracle Native Apply now available for Q Replication, I am attaching a flyer with our Quickstart services offering to assist current Q Replication customers to transition from using Federation Server to the Oracle Native Apply. Hope it helps!
Oracle Native Apply Quickstart 7.28.16
Thanks again for your help Megan! Go O’s!

One result of the IBM Global Skills Initiative is the complexity around course scheduling and registration as there are now five Global Training Partners managing these processes.
The Fillmore Group is aligned with our software distributor, Arrow ECS, for IBM Analytics training delivery. Through our relationship with Arrow we deliver public, open enrollment IBM Analytics classes in our Towson, Maryland, classroom, as well as distance learning, remote classes, and private classes.
Finding our classes on the Arrow website can be a challenge, but there are two ways to do this.
#1 Click here for classes scheduled for the next 60 days
This link will take you to the pre-sorted courses scheduled to run at The Fillmore Group in the next 60 days.
#2 Visit the Arrow ECS website and sort courses
If you would like to review the courses delivered by The Fillmore Group in Towson as well as courses delivered by other Arrow affiliated vendors in other locations, follow these instructions:
- Click on https://ecsedu.arrow.com/ibm/us
- At the top of the screen hover over or pull down “Scheduled and Distance Classes”
- Click on “Training schedules”
- Select “United States”
- In the list of locations, De-select “All”, then check “Towson”
- Select “6 months” for the time period to display
- Answer “No” to the “Show Only Guaranteed to Run” question
- Select “All” for topics, hardware and software
- Click the “See” button to display the classes
You should see a list of classes scheduled displayed like this. The schedule contains dates and hyperlinks to register for individual sessions.
I hope this helps! If can answer any questions on locating classes or navigating through to fjnd what you need, don’t hesitate to email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call (443-956-0288) me.

The Fillmore Group 2H 2015 Class Schedule
With all the challenges IBM’s move to the Global Skills Initiative (aka outsourcing education) has created for DB2 users, please remember IBM classes do still exist and are available for the patient and persistent. Fear not! If you need training, we are prepared to help.
After seeing public training nosedive over the past two years we are now seeing a bit of a resurgence. Are classes really running? Well, in all honesty, not often. However, we are seeing a few run here and there, and when they don’t, with our relationship with Arrow ECS (one of the five Global Training Partners) intact, we are learning to “collect” students interested in training, and either gather them together for classes, or provide private training at affordable rates.
I’ve just submitted our second half of 2015 public training class schedule to Arrow (see the attachment above) and expect to see the classes posted on the IBM training site (IBM.com/training) within the next couple weeks. I welcome anyone looking for a class – whether it’s on my schedule or not – to contact me at email@example.com so that I can work some coordination magic for you.

Beginning this month The Fillmore Group will be offering fixed price private IBM Information Management training classes to customers located in the US and Canada, making it easier for customers to budget for critical IM education. Our team recognizes the value of technical training – and we understand the challenges IBM Information Management customers are facing with the array of offerings generated by the Global Skills Initiative. I am hoping that by offering fixed priced IM education and simplifying the pricing aspect of training procurement, customers will be encouraged to pursue training to support new and existing IM solution implementations.
The fixed prices below include IBM authorized curriculum, IBM remote eLab access, travel and lodging for the instructor, and course delivery by one of our experienced instructors. Do I need to add pizza to get you to bite??
There IS of course some “fine print”: 1) the prices below are for IBM Information Management courses only (320 current courses are available; you can sort through them at http://tinyurl.com/IM2015courses or contact me for assistance identifying the appropriate course based on your needs), 2) courses must be delivered in the US or Canada, in English, within one mutually agreed upon, contiguous calendar week. 3) The purchasing customer must provide a training facility equipped with one computer for each student, and high-speed Internet access.
The fixed prices are:
Course Length 1-3 Students 4-6 Students
3 days $9,900 $11,900
4 days $13,900 $15,900
Please let me know (email me at firstname.lastname@example.org) if I can help you with any questions or private class coordination. Thanks!

It’s the second official day of IOD but I have already done so much! I was invited to a special reception for VIPs (thanks Crysta and David!) that included a tour of the Expo as it opened Sunday evening, got to see the colorful balloons in the Arrow Education booth where Arrow’s Carolann Kohler is doing a wonderful job of promoting our classes (back in biz, yay!), attended the Break Free Forum yesterday and then…best of all…our champagne tasting, where I was able to catch up with so many friends and colleagues. Many thanks to Donna Dordai for her help making it all come together while I am in meetings and sessions, and Tara and Paul for the great food and service last night. Locavore is awesome and they were doing Baltimore proud!
I am far from a great photographer but some pictures are on The Fillmore Group’s Facebook page.

To everyone joining us at IOD, I invite you to stop by Arrow ECS’s booth in the Expo, #1309, to pop a balloon and possibly win a valuable training class prize – or an iPad! Arrow ECS is one of the four new IBM-selected Global Training Partners, and in addition to being The Fillmore Group’s software distributor, Arrow is the partner TFG has aligned with to continue to deliver IBM Authorized Information Management classes.
To qualify to win you must stop by the booth and pop a balloon. Special prizes are in *some* balloons. Good luck! Let’s get IBM IM training restarted with a BANG!
