IBM’s DB2 Database family of products offers organizations the unsurpassed opportunity to immediately solve many problems inherent with legacy data management systems. Because IBM invests so heavily in research and development they consistently maintain the lead in database functionality. Availability, concurrency, security and distributed access integration are all improved through a migration from other platforms to a DB2 Family solution.
The Fillmore Group utilizes a multi-faceted approach to data migration, providing a repeatable, proven process along with the tools and training to achieve a customer’s short and long-term business objectives. As critical data sets, applications, and their dependencies are identified, a combination of techniques including application translation, replacement, and re-engineering are deployed.
For example, The Fillmore Group has helped a number of customers with successful migrations from DB2 Server for VSE&VM to DB2 on other platforms. In addition, TFG has assisted new DB2 customers to salvage their legacy application environment (for example, CICS/VSAM/COBOL), while migrating the database. Whenever possible we employ the disciplines of code reuse, encapsulation and application translation and reengineering to speed the implementation of a database system that is well-tested and functions well.
